I’ve recently posted this photo on Facebook:
This was in September last year and it’s in the ground floor of the earlier mentioned house by the ocean. We wanted to convert 75 unused square meters into a top-notch recording studio but we needed more ceiling height and hence had to get in the big machines to dig out the floors.
It was a swimming pool of mud for months and I was beginning to have my doubts about the project.
But ever so slowly it’s come together and now we’re weeks away from being able to record a full band in there.
At least we’re weeks away from having to record a full band. Admittedly busy weeks of soldering cables, fine-tuning acoustics, buying the last equipment, whipping electricians, making it cosy, etc.
I could get stupidly geeky and tell you all about it but I have a feeling you might not be all that interested!
I’ll post some photos soon, though.
At the start of this period we’d set up a little writing studio at the top of the house with an evening view of Reykjavik:
And a daytime view of my earlier mentioned new best friend, Esja:
As you can imagine not the worst place to work.
But now that the studio is nearly done it’s time to get closer to the ground, away from the light, and deeper into the nitty gritty of making this music.
We need a name for our new studio!
